BBC Biggest Weekend: Coventry

Over the past few years StadiumTM has worked closely with Coventry Council on the Godiva Festival, this relationship expanded when StadiumTM’s trusted event services were required for one of the city’s largest music events to date.

The BBC Biggest Weekend was held on the second May Bank Holiday Weekend, the initiative taking place across four cities in the UK. Each city received a designated BBC Station to which the music would be in line to. Coventry’s assigned stations were BBC Two and Three, headline acts consisted of Paloma Faith, Snow Patrol and Liam Gallagher. Over the two days over 40 000 persons entered the event.

We provided:

  • Car Park Management
  • Park & Ride Management from the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Whitley site.
  • HVM solution Hire & Installation

Before and during the overnights of the event there was heavy rainfall, the car parks managed effectively by our experienced teams. Ensuring areas where ground was exceedingly heavy was avoided, yet space managed effectively.

The Park & Ride from JLR site required a number of site visits to ensure efficiency wasn’t compromised and the accessibility to the site remained intact and easy to follow for those attending. The operation went smoothly and was a great success.

Lastly, our HVM solutions, for the event the ATG Access Surface Guard and the Rosehill Security Rapid Defender were deployed. The two solutions provided a high density of pedestrians to enter the event and secure the entrance completely. Overall the barriers were deployed in four locations across the park. The Surface Guard was present at all four deployments with the Rapid Defender present at the main entrance adjacent to the Surface Guard to ensure the entire entrance was covered.
